ARTIST STATEMENT
The sculptures
are like stage sets in which various themes can be expressed. The clay is
like a piece of slate where my impressions of events and feelings are inscribed.
Through the manipulation of the clay, my unconscious thoughts escape in response
to past and present experiences.
The Pre-Colombian, Mayan and African cultures have greatly influenced my work
because of their depiction of the politics and values of the time through
spiritual and mythological themes.
Relationships between companion animals and people are expressed through various
sculptural environments.

My sculptures explore the roles dogs play in our society and their reaction to the demands placed upon them.
